Obituary for John F. Reynolds

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of John F. Reynolds on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the age of 72. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Born in La Crosse, WI to Lloyd and LaVonne Reynolds on March 11, 1952, he was employed by Trane Company for 38 yrs. He had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor; always a jokester.

He is survived and missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann; his brother, Jeff Reynolds; his five children, Jon Reynolds (Mayann), Ben Reynolds (Kendra), Amy Reynolds (Brian), Jill Kukowski (Duane), and Jessica Jandt (Greg); his grandchildren, Gabe, Ashlynn, Ella, Ava, and Emma; his mother-in-law, Carol Peterson; and three brothers-in-law and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Dale Peterson; and his grandson, Archie Reynolds.

John was a great history buff, spending his time researching topics of interest. He had a great love of classic cars and anything mechanical. He would spend hours in his garage “tooling” around with his many vehicles and he always had a car project going. He had a very mechanical mind and could explain how anything worked. He was an avid fisherman and grew up on the Mississippi River. His perfect day was boating on the river rain or shine with family and friends. He also loved taking his mustang out with Ann for long road trips to places he would refer to as “destination unknown”. Car shows also filled many of his weekends.

He was outnumbered by girls and cherished his daughters and his four beautiful granddaughters. His sons also followed his career path and went on to be welders. He passed on his mechanical mindset to them.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to our neighbors who extended their kindness and generosity during our difficult days. In addition, we would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Gundersen Health System for the amazing care they provided him.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 359 N. Leonard St., West Salem. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, and also from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service, Saturday, both at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Online condolences may be offered on this site.

Blessed be his memory.
