Obituary for Steven E. Weiland

In Loving Memory of Steven E. Weiland December 15, 1948 - February 8, 2025

Steven E. Weiland, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed into the Lord’s hands on February 8, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born in La Crosse, WI on December 15, 1948, to Edward and Dorothy Weiland. Steven was a proud graduate of Aquinas High School (1967) and Viterbo University, where he earned his degree with honors. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Vickie (Goldsmith) Weiland; his children, Richard Ristow and Dana (John) Greicar; grandchildren, Carliegh (Eston) Ramirez, Camille Ristow, and Ethan Greicar; great-grandchildren, Walter Nehring, Dante Ramirez, Esme Ramirez, William “Liam” Hayes, and Forrest Hayes. He is also survived by his siblings: Joan Weiland, Kate Weiland, Nancy Weiland, and Julie (Kevin) Seeley, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Weiland.

Steven was one of the kindest, most generous souls, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His quick wit and keen observations, often delivered with a quiet demeanor, made him a joy to be around. No one ever had a bad day when in his company. Steven lived his life humbly, with a servant’s heart, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He was a proud supporter of the Green Bay Packers, enjoyed a cold PBR in hand, and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family, humor, and the simple joys in life.

We are truly grateful to our Lord for the years Steve was given to us, and we take comfort in knowing he is at peace in Heaven. Until we meet again, we raise a glass in his memory—Cheers to Steve!
