Obituary for Florence Schaller

Florence Salome Schaller, 98, of Bangor Wisc., died February 10, 2025 at River Road Estates where she resided.
Florence was born on December 22, 1927 to Mayme and William Arentz of Middle Ridge. She was born at home and transported by a horse and buggy to the La Crosse hospital. She arrived after midnight, so they recorded her birth as December 23rd. She had two days she could celebrate her birthday!
Florence was always proud of being a Ridge Runner, she loved living up there. She spent her summers working with her Pa on the farm, working in a store, and free time was spent playing ball and sledding with her sister Elreda and her brothers Arnold and Bobby plus all of the neighbor kids. One night she went to the Tavern with her Pa where she met a wonderful guy named Eldred (“Ally”) Schaller. He asked her out on a date, and the long love story began. They were married on September 26, 1950 and spent 66 years together. They had three children whom she is survived by, Tim (Joyce) Schaller, Sandi (Tom) OHeron, and Kristi (Dan) Elliott.
Florence worked in food service for many years, working at the Bangor School and waiting tables at many restaurants; the Village Inn and the Four Corners, to name a couple. She was also a great cook, she would cook up every wild animal dad brought home from hunting. She loved canning pickles and would donate them to many events. The BloodMobile loved them- everyone said they were the best ever. Florence also loved to play bingo and take the bus to the casinos with her sister Elreda.
She loved spending time with her seven grandchildren, Bradley (Jess) Schaller, Kelly (Justin) Peterson, Tobias OHeron, Ezra (Amanda) OHeron, Ashley (Brennon) Path, Brandon (Steph) Elliott and Randina (Tyson) Langrehr who is deceased. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Eli and Grant Schaller, Will and Ari Peterson, Marlayna and Myra OHeron, Walker Langrehr, Blake, Brooks, and Ainsley Path, Huxley and Oaklynn Elliott. She is further survived by her brothers-in-law, Art Sommerfield and Tom Althoff, both of Bangor; a sister-in-law Jeanette Schaller of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2025 at St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish, 210 E Hamlin St, West Salem, WI 54669. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of Mass, Friday, at the church.
