Obituary for Virginia "Ginny" Quirin

Ginny finally made her way to heaven after a long battle with brain cancer. Her lifetime was devoted to helping others. Although she was never a mother herself, she was a mother to many, especially those who were disadvantaged and disabled. You could not help but love her for her kindness and understanding. She earned the title “Favorite Aunt Ginny” and will be dearly missed by her entire family.
Ginny was born on December 5, 1956, in Tomah, WI to Clement Kiefer and Mary Ellen (Walsh) Kiefer. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1975. She worked her way through college by attending night school and eventually earning a Master of Business Administration at the University of LaCrosse, WI. She was employed by Ft McCoy, Sparta, WI starting at a basic clerical position and working her way to Director of Community Services and on to Director of Accounting. Ginny retired from Ft McCoy on January 3, 2014.
She loved creative art, starting in her early years making stained glass windows and then on to simple quilts and then award-winning quilt masterpieces built from thousands of hand cut pieces selected from specialized materials from around the world. All her quilts were created out of love for charity and gifts.
She loved running, walking and exercising with friends. Ginny completed over 10 marathons in her lifetime including the New York City, Grandma’s, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Phoenix, Arizona Marathons.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 27 years, Peter Quirin.
