Obituary for Daniel N. Staff

Daniel was born on April 17, 1947, minutes before his twin brother Donald, in La Crosse, to Nelbert and Arleen (Kuhn) Staff. He graduated from Holmen High School in 1966. Shortly afterward, on July 29, 1966, he voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Daniel served in the Mediterranean and aboard the minesweeper USS Aggressive (MSO-422) off the coast of Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from Naval Station Charleston, South Carolina, on July 30, 1969.

While stationed in Charleston, Daniel met the love of his life, Diane (Bein) Staff. They were married on June 7, 1968 and shared 56 years together. Daniel was a longtime self-employed construction contractor who owned and operated his own remodeling company. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and racing stock cars.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; nephews, Nathan (Heather) Staff and Brent (Tracy) Staff; and great-nephews, Alex, Drew, and Dawson Staff.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ronald Joseph Staff (1946) and Donald Joseph Staff (2022).

A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Onalaska City Cemetery.
